•    How to increase soil Biogeo-chemical nutrient cycling to reduce fertilizer use
•    How to improve organic matter
•    How aggregate stability improves soil function

I attended the last workshop scheduled in Kentucky in before the team headed west. Did anyone else attend one of the workshops offered in Kentucky? I did not have great expectations when I went, but Ray Archuleta is passionate about his message and his message is applicable for both the conventional farmer and the organic farmer.

For those who missed it, he is advocating combining no-till farming with cover cropping (mix of seeds legumes, grasses, and brassicas) so that the soil is never uncovered. Benefit: organic soil develops and minimizes soil erosion and eliminates the need for chemical farming. He is advocating this method will eliminate the need for pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and fungicides and herbicides! Isn’t that exciting! Since Ray Archuleta is now part of a national team of NRCS they are taking their message on the road across the country.

I propose that we consider him for our keynote speaker for OAK 2013! He said his travel budget would pay his way–so that makes him a free speaker! Ray said that he will speak as a keynote and give a 1-1/2 hour presentation if we give him enough advance notice to schedule. If anybody else heard him speak, what do you think? I would love to hear him speak at our next conference.
